Don’t be an egghead on social media.

Don’t be an egghead on social media!

Your photo tells new contacts a lot about your level of professionalism and expertise.

Are you an egghead on Twitter? A bluehead on Google+? Faceless on Facebook or LinkedIn?
You are representing the public face of your organization.

This should go without saying, but I’m surprised by the amount of highly successful professionals in my networks who haven’t taken care to ensure that their imagery, logo, or website live up to the caliber of their work. Since new professional contacts will check you out on SM networks right off the bat, my only question is: Why wouldn’t you put a good foot forward?

A note to the bashful: If you aren’t photogenic, all the more reason to put yourself in the hands of an expert. Anyone can use Instagram, but capturing the light and utilizing it to present a compelling visual message …that is the province of a well trained, talented photographer. A professional photographer capably brings out the best in her subject.

I posted my favorite headshot last month from my photo shoot by Sarah Belanger Photography. Here are the rest of my ‘keepers’ from the shoot. I’d like to add that her rates are so reasonable that if you are doing business in or near Southern New Hampshire, you owe it to yourself to book a photo shoot with Sarah.
